Lt. Ryan Wilfong

Lt. Ryan Wilfong retired from the Louisville Metro Police Department in August 2010. Initially serving on the Jefferson County Police Department, Lieutenant Wilfong served in assignments in: Patrol, Field Training Officer, Property Crimes, Robbery Unit, Patrol Sergeant, Field Training Sergeant, Administrative Services Lieutenant and Special Operations. During his career, Lieutenant Wilfong also served as an adjunct academy instructor, holding training certifications from both the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the FBI. Lieutenant Wilfong was one of the original trainers with the KY CIT Statewide Program and served as a CIT Instructor with the Louisville Metro Police.  Lieutenant Wilfong served in capacities as Hostage Negotiator, Negotiator Supervisor, Assistant Commander and Commander of the LMPD Hostage Negotiation Team. During his career, he was twice awarded the Department’s Professional Service Award.  Prior to his service with Jefferson County Police, he served with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Police. Lieutenant Wilfong has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Marshall University and a Master of Science in Management (Strategic Management) from Indiana Wesleyan University. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Kentucky Crisis Intervention Team.
