Heath Dolen, serves as the Military Affairs for Behavioral Health Program Administrator for the Kentucky Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) within the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities. Since 2008, Heath has been focused on enhancing the care and coordination of services for Service Members, Veterans and their Families (SMVF). Heath received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with concentrations in Mass Communication, Public Relations, and Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University. He has over twenty years of experience in the fields of substance abuse prevention and treatment. Heath is a co-founder of the “Operation Headed Home” project, which was awarded the National Balderson Public Health Leadership Award. Heath was appointed as an Honorary Kentucky National Guardsman for his efforts in supporting Kentucky’s military population. The Kentucky Veterans of the Year organization presented Heath with the “Distinguished Friend of Veterans” award. Since 2013, Heath has been the designated team lead for Kentucky’s Military Behavioral Health initiative. He also oversees the “Operation Headed Home” conference and the “Operation Immersion” training (a “basic training” event for behavioral health providers and professionals). These two events raise the awareness of Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance use and suicide prevention. These events also provide valuable resources and information to support Kentucky’s SMVF, caregivers, behavioral and medical health professionals.
