Amanda Foley-Byard, is the Treatment Implementation Specialist for the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort, within the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, She oversees the implementation process of the treatment programs funded through KORE throughout the state. Amanda came to the Department in February of 2019 from the field of mental health and addiction treatment where she spent time working in a psychiatric hospital, a community mental health center, emergency departments, schools, and detention centers. Her clinical specialization is in the use of experiential therapy to treat trauma, addiction, and other co-occurring psychiatric disorders, and her research expertise is in Community-Based Participatory Action Research, a paradigm which promotes the co-facilitation of change in disempowered communities through shared values and democratic partnerships.
